La Princesse de Hanovre remet un laser à l'Hôpital Gaslini de Gênes

The President of AMADE Mondiale was in Genoa on Friday 14 February to officially donate a latest generation laser equipment to the paediatric Hospital Giannina Gaslini.

The Institute started its activity in 1938. Since then, its vocation is to provide children with the best possible care through advanced technology. Its services include treatment, scientific research and surgery.

Received by its Director General, Dr. Paolo Petralia, and its President, Prof. Vincenzo Lorenzelli, as well as the President of AMADE Italy, the Prince Pallavicino, Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Mr. Jérôme Froissart, Secretary General of AMADE Mondiale, Mr. Pieter Bogaardt and Mrs. Caroline Repin, members of the Board, as well as Mr. Claudio Senzioni, Secretary General of AMADE Italy, and H.E. Mr. Robert Fillon, Ambassador of Monaco in Italy.

The President of AMADE Mondiale visited many of the Hospital's departments, met with hospitalized children and medical staff, before She officially donated to the Institute a new surgical laser equipment. This latest generation device will be used for specialized paediatric surgeries, e.g. to treat skin diseases, scars or vascular tumors.

Funded by Senator Gerolama Gaslini - who wished to honour his daughter, tragically passed away at the age of 12 - the Institute is one of the best healthcare institutions in Europe, joining together experience, know-how and willing to remain at the forefront of medical technology. Over 17.000 patients are hospitalized every year, while more than 2.000 children a year receive successful surgery.

The purchase of this laser device - valued over 50.000 Euros - is the consequence of an awareness campaign led by AMADE Italy for the past weeks. The Princess of Hanover participated to a charity evening in order to meet and exchange with the main partners and generous donors who supported this operation.
